By Air

The best way to enter Bhutan is by air to Paro international airport. There are two types of carriers – Druk Air & Bhutan Airlines. No other airlines travel into Bhutan. The sectors are as follows:

        India (Delhi, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Bodhgaya and Mumbai)

        Nepal (Kathmandu)

        Singapore (Twice a week)

By Road

There are two entry and exit points by road:

You can enter/exit through Phuntsholing in southwest Bhutan. It is 3-4 hrs drive from the siliguri in west Bengal.

The other entry/exit point is through Samdrup Jongkhar in eastern Bhutan and it is 3 hours drive from Guahati in Assam.

Yes, you need visa to travel to Bhutan except for the nationalities of India, Bangladesh and Maldives.

The tourist visas are all processed by your chosen local tour tour operator within the country. The procedure for processing visa is simple only thing is you need to send te scanned copy of your passport, and tour payment must be deposited into a designated government Bank through wire transfer. visa can be processed within one week provided the above rewuirements are fulfilled. Your local tour agent will send you a scanned copy of your visa clearance letter. You are required to produce this document at the flight check-in desk and immigration desk of respective entry points. The actual visa will be stamped on your passport on arrival. Your passport should have minimum of six months validity from the check-in date.

The food is the greatest experiences while you travel to the different destination. You will have a variety of cuisines to choose from, including Bhutanese, Indian, Chinese, and continental dishes. The main staples of the Bhutanese diet are red rice and chilies. One dish is called “Ema datshi”, which is chilies and cheese. Meats are widely eaten in Bhutan and the vegetables are common. The hotels and restaurants provide any kinds of dishes to the guests be it vegetarian or be it allergic to some dishes but you should inform to your company before your arrival.

The crime rate is very minimum in Bhutan. Security and safety are a high priority to every guest who travel to Bhutan and it is safe to for women and solo travelers.

The altitude in Bhutan is higher than many people are used to. Though most visitors are have no problem adjusting, altitude sickness may be a problem for certain people.
